Commission worked alongside the creative team at & Other Stories to create the visual language and packaging for their Paris Atelier’s premium beauty range.
The beauty range is a chic and sophisticated celebration of France. Raw and natural ingredients sourced from the most treasured regions of the country impart poetic narratives of the landscape across the products. Oyster shells, seaweed and botanicals from the Breton coast; beeswax and wild flowers of Provençal meadows; green foliage, fruits and nuts grown in forests of the South West; the rich and alluring floral scents of Parisian gardens – all feature in the products.
The Paris Atelier packaging required a strong visual distinction from the core beauty range by the Stockholm Atelier. Exploring the language and materiality of vintage French books evoked notions of romance and memory which provided a key inspiration point for the project.
Vintage book cloths informed a deep, luxurious colour palette, and traditional endpapers inspired a bespoke series of marbling by Jemma Lewis. Stories’ signature mark-making was reinterpreted as intricate icons to support each regional range.
Concrete poetry cascades down the packaging, playfully enveloping the icons. Together, they are emblematic of an epistolary world.
Utilising core elements of the Stories identity enables the products to remain on-brand and retain a level of modernity, while their opulent textures, gold foils, and decorative ideograms distinguish them from their pared back Scandinavian counterparts.
